Without it, you will get the error Authentication failed. The strange thing is that it says authenticating user nx while Im using my own username. Under 'SSH Authentication' Ive added my user name on the server, and I choose 'identity file' and selected the ssh-key I generated (which works with nxclient). This produced a bunch of ugly errors suggesting I wasnt going to be able to print and such. I used the nxsetup command I gathered from a 2009 forum archived post: nxsetup -install -clean -purge -setup-nomachine-key.
In the connection dialog, Ive chosen SSH as the protocol, and Ive correctly added the IP and port. On my CentOS6 server Ive used yum to install NX and FreeNX: nx-3.5.0-2.1.686. To connect to one of SISSA workstation, you must import our ssh key into your local NX client, because we have replaced the default ssh public key that comes with NX. NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey NX> 204 Authentication failed. The problem is that I dont exactly know how to connect to a NX-server with the program.
